Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a Darklord is a unique entry in the Crystal Chronicles sub-series of Final Fantasy games. Similar in style to tower defense real-time strategy games, My Life as a Darklord adds the ability to continue building the tower even as it is getting destroyed floor by floor. The ultimate goal is to defeat those attacking the tower before they can reach the top and destroy the crystal. To impede their progress, players can summon an assortment of monsters from the Final Fantasy universe to battle them. Once they are defeated, they are knocked from the tower and do not return.
The game is considered a sequel to Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King, and shares many in-game ties with it.
