Plot[]

The game begins in Radiant Garden where, in a flashback, shows the disciples of Ansem the Wise without knowledge that slowly dissolve into darkness inside the lab while Braig, addressing Xehanort asks him if it was that he wanted them to go things, and if he came back the memory. In response, the apprentice of the evil evokes the Keyblade Master Xehanort and Braig stabs, depriving the heart and explaining that his name is not Xehanort, but .Ansem.

Meanwhile, the Destiny Islands, Sora and Riku are about to leave. Their raft soon stumbles into a storm, and here the two young people are addressed by a sort of ghost of Ursula; Once defeated, the two are thrown into the sea where, unconscious, unconsciously evoke the Keyblade closing a lock appeared before them: the first World Sleeper was awakened from sleep. Meanwhile the Ansem incorporeal keeps them, commenting that that world "had been connected."

Thus began the journey of Sora and Riku, a proof that, once completed, will decide the two boys true Keyblade Masters. The one who sent them back in time, to the day when the Destiny Islands had become the prey of Darkness, is in fact the Master Yen Sid so that they are guided to the reign of the Sleepers Worlds (ie those worlds that have not been freed completely by darkness, but who reside in a kind of "limbo" waiting to be awakened through the locks that are hidden inside them). The task of Sora and Riku to be appointed Masters is just to find and close these seven locks, and bring the Worlds Sleepers to normal, and then return safely to the Mysterious Tower.

Since their approach to the Middle Town, the second World Sleeper, Sora and Riku they will realize they have different outfits and they were separated. As noted by Joshua (character of the game The World Ends with You), in fact, they reside in two different parallel entities of the same world, as if somehow they were separated by an invisible wall. The two boys, during the trip, are frequently in contact with a mysterious young man with silver hair. He wears the same black coat that belonged to the members of Organization XIII, confusing the minds of the two with enigmatic phrases. Sora and Riku find themselves face to face with two enemies faced and destroyed in the first and second chapter of the saga: respectively Xemnas and Ansem, the Seeker of Darkness, apparently revived and both in the mysterious boy company.

Meanwhile, in the real world, Axel remembers his promise to Roxas and Xion, the one in which he swore to always be ready to bring their friends back, waking up in the laboratory of Ansem the Wise to Radiant Garden, along with all the other original members of the Organization. With the destruction of their Nobody and Heartless, they had returned as human beings. Lea makes you realize that, however, were missing Braig and Isa, absent in the laboratory. Mysterious Tower, a message carried in the beak of Diablo warns Mickey, Donald, Goofy and Yen Sid the capture of Minni by Maleficent and Pete, penetrated inside the Disney Castle. The King and his two trusted friends rush to save the Queen and Maleficent blackmails him by telling him that in exchange for the safety of Minni wanted the data of "cyberspace" (obtained from digitization of Jiminy Journal took place in Kingdom Hearts Coded were delivered). In front of the refusal to Mickey, Maleficent is preparing to attack them, but the intervention of Lea manages to free Minni by Maleficent vice and Peter and forcing them to retreat, a gesture that earned him the trust of Mickey Mouse. Back to the Tower, Lea warns the audience that Xehanort was not "resurrected" to Radiant Garden putting in Yen Sid alarm, which begins to fear there is his paw behind the failed reception of the exact location of Riku and Sora. Mickey decides to go looking for them to check that everything is fine with the examination. Lea meanwhile also makes another mysterious request to Yen Sid, who is later revealed to be a request to be trained as guardian of the Keyblade.

After unlocking the seven sleepers locks, Sora finds himself in the real world but was diverted to the World That Never Was, awaited Xigbar and the silver-haired boy, with the latter makes him fall into a deep sleep and takes it to Castle that Never Was. But Sora does not understand what happened and are not aware of being in a dream then, disoriented, she follows what appear visions of all the people who are somehow connected to him as Roxas, Ventus and Xion, but also Earth , Aqua and Naminé; Sora, however, makes it the Xehanort game. Arrived at the foot of the Castle That Never Was dream, Sora is then intercepted by Xemnas, Xigbar and the silver-haired boy, who finally reveal the truth: they had been to divide it by Riku, and move it had always been their clothes in so that they always knew where he was, applying to him the dissident Seal bringing it in that place at that exact moment. The silver-haired boy he also proves to be Xehanort young, achieved in the past by Ansem, the Seeker of Darkness after the apprentice of Ansem the Wise was divided into Heartless and Nobody. The requirements to be able to go back in time are in fact two: leave their physical body, and come back at a time when another yourself you awaited. Xehanort then, had abandoned their bodies becoming Heartless and was back at the time when there was his younger counterpart to Destiny Islands. Here the Heartless had given the young Xehanort the power of time travel and an important task: to make sure that when the Master Xehanort was alive again he had recruited by then twelve other bodies in which to transfer his heart. His Heartless, or Ansem, would instead waited on the Islands in order to take possession of a new body a day (as mentioned above, the former had been discarded so as to travel in time) and muster seven hearts of pure light. The young Xehanort then helped to form the Organization XIII Xemnas and Ansem, after convincing Maleficent to gather the seven Princesses of Heart, had taken possession of Riku's body in the first chapter of the saga. Xemnas tells Sora that the first organization had been created just to find other suitable containers in order to accommodate part of the heart of Master Xehanort, but (in part thanks to Sora) almost all of them turned out to be unsuitable for this task for physical weakness , of mind or heart, or because someone had taken far too much self-consciousness itself. Among the few suitable there was also Xigbar, which in fact proves to contain already a part of the heart Xehanort (that being infused with pure darkness makes characteristically golden eyes who becomes one of its container). Being able to travel through time in places where other versions of themselves were present, the young Xehanort had brought Ansem, Xigbar and Xemnas before Sora destroy them in the main chapters of the saga in order to establish a new Organization XIII, this time It composed of individuals able to be able to contain the core of Master Xehanort and become its incarnations. The young Xehanort also reveals that he had already identified all of its components: the last choice had fallen on Riku, but because the boy had developed an innate resistance to darkness of his heart, had decided to opt for Roxas. The latter, however, was met with Sora, and thus the thirteenth place had been reserved to him. But Sora, stubborn as usual, does not want to surrender and prepares to fight Xemnas. This clash, however, further weakens the boy, just enough to make it to the young Xehanort fall into an eternal sleep, explaining that his task was over and that soon he would return to his own time, in order to grow and become one day the Master Xehanort.

Meanwhile Riku finds himself in the basement of Castle That Never Was, and goes in search of Sora. Once you find the friend, Riku known her catatonic state and orders him not to follow the dreams in vain. Having also defeated the Nightmare incarnation of mischievous and dark sleep that was having Sora, he is waiting Ansem, the Seeker of Darkness. The latter explains that while Sora had really traveled inside the Worlds Sleepers, Riku had become in turn a Divorasogni, traveling all the time not within those worlds of dreams but rather in those of Sora, and his actions have done nothing but protect it from Darkness. Ansem reveals Riku their plans collided with him, now considered useless for the Organization. Riku again confronts the darkness that long before had gripped his heart and wins the battle back to the real world, on the brink of the abyss that separates the Castle That Never Was by Dark City, and once inside the castle reaches Sora coming where Nothing gathers (the circular room, where they met members of the Organization XIII), in which you are going to rally Vera Organization XIII anxiously awaiting the return of their leader: Master Xehanort. Sora sits in the lowest, unconscious sleep in his dark throne. Riku is then stopped by the young Xehanort, who told him their plan, and is joined by Mickey Mouse, which uses a very powerful form of magic Stop ( "Stopza") to immobilize everyone present except him so he can save Riku and Sora. But the young Xehanort can manipulate the same time and, after a moment, the spell loses effectiveness over him starting to duel with Riku and giving time to the Master Xehanort to return on the highest throne causing the uptime the spell ends. The old teacher explains that his intention had always been to forge the χ-blade to reach and open the true Kingdom Hearts, it sucked into the dark ages before. Xehanort also reveals that during the Keyblade War, the χ-blade broke into twenty pieces, seven of pure Light and thirteen pure darkness: his goal was to gather these twenty pieces and get them back to unite with each other, so to forge the legendary sword again. In the past he had hastily tried to pit one entity of pure light and pure darkness equivalent (Ventus and Vanitas) in order to create the χ-blade but the attempt, as told in Birth by Sleep, was a failure. Riku and Mickey then try desperately to reach Sora but are restrained by Ansem and Xemnas being forced to watch the entrance of Xehanort's heart in Sora. In the room promptly comes Lea, who manages to prevent the entry into the Organization of Vera Sora also clashing with the sixth darkness: Saïx, the Nobody of her ex-best friend Isa. The arrival of Lea also distracts Xemnas and Ansem, allowing Riku and Mickey Mouse for free. The two, however, are captured by the Guardian Ansem, but are saved by Donald and Goofy, that coming in a hurry with the Star Fragment affect the Guardian Ansem, defeating him. The time allowed to the already formed twelve darkness to rally though comes to an end and before fading back to their membership each time, Xehanort encourages Mickey to gather his seven keepers of the light ahead of the clash with Vera Organization XIII.

Back to the Mysterious Tower, Sora's heart is now completely at the mercy of Darkness, preventing the boy to wake up. His heart, however, does not succumb completely, because it is protected by armor Ventus Keyblade he used in his travels between worlds, evoked right from the heart of Ven moments after Sora fell victim of the dark sleep. Riku, then decides to jump inside his heart to save it. Inside Fights nightmare that tormented Sora and who had taken control of Armor Ventus that, despite everything, continued to protect the boy's heart. Once defeated the dark being, Riku finds himself in the heart of his friend in a projection of the Destiny Islands: here there is Ventus, Roxas, Xion (although the latter could not remember) and finally the Ansem wise, who delivered the data of some important discoveries that had implanted safely inside of Sora's heart monitored while waiting for his memories are ripristinassero and that the boy was awake.

Riku is then returned to the real world and Yen Sid named him Master of Keyblade. Lea (under the amazed eyes of all) fails for the first time to summon his Keyblade Sora and finally decided to return in the Worlds Sleepers to continue to train against the Darkness and pass the exam.

Sora then finds himself the sleeper Traverse Town. Initially only, it is soon ragiunto from all Divorasogni who accompanied him in his adventure. Ventus, sensing the joy in the heart of Sora, smiles as he continues to lie in the awakening room.

Ending[]

It's been a bit 'of time since Riku was appointed Master and Donald and Goofy, outside the Mysterious Tower, are getting bored: Sora is still exercising the Worlds Sleepers and Riku was sent somewhere from Yen Sid, while Lea returned the Radiant Garden to learn to make better use of his Keyblade. Shortly after, however, the two, however, are surprised when they see Riku go with someone.

Meanwhile Yen Sid is discussing with Mickey Mouse about the facts that occurred recently and the discovery of the Master Xehanort plans, talking about the ancient war consequences. They are interrupted by the new Maestro Riku, under direct orders from Yen Sid, he went to take a "guest" to take from him since. The older wizard reveals that he did bring that person here because it was aware of the fact that he was able to wield a Keyblade, "the guest" mysterious is then revealed to be Kairi.

Gameplay[]

The gameplay of Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance in many ways is similar to Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, which adds the ability to Sora and Riku perform stunts that allow them to move quickly through the environment and to attack in a way the everything new. As already mentioned, the player characters are Sora and Riku, control including changes in semi-automatic mode during the game: the addition of a new bar in fact, called "drop bar" ( "Vigil of Barra" in the translation amateur, "Drop Gauge" in the original) is visible already in the first trailer, but Nomura said it would be easier to understand his role when he played. According to Nomura, the game takes about 35 hours not counting side quests, mini-games and enhancement of the characters. Also the game, as mentioned above, presents a new type of defined movement "Fluimoto" ( "Flowmotion" in original and redefined as "acrobatics" in amateur translation): This system allows players to interact fully with the surrounding scenery using walls and poles to propel themselves and allowing new types of attack. Sometimes, during a fight, Sora and Riku will also start a special remarkably powerful attack called "Cambiarealtà" ( "Distorted Reality" in the amateur translation, in the original "Reality Shift"), which varies from world to world and provide different effects each time it activate it.

Sora and Riku will also be accompanied by a pair of Spirits, who will support them in battle, and with whom you can make attacks combined with the "Union System" ( "Link System"): Sora will accomplish these attacks assisted by his Divorasogni, Riku instead It will merge with their obtaining new powers temporarily.

Also, the first time you visit a world, Sora and Riku will face a themed minigame in which they will complete a goal while they are in free fall towards the world in question called "Dive mode" ( "Dive Mode"). Once completed, the portal to the world will be unlocked and there is free to access.
