Naminé is the Nobody of Kairi, and wields the power to manipulate the memories of Sora and those close to him. Her first appearance is in Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. She also plays a minor role in Kingdom Hearts II and appears in some cutscenes in Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days and Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. The first part of her name, nami means "wave" in Japanese, similar to Kairi's name, which is derived from the word for "sea".
Naminé was born when Sora became a Heartless in order to free Kairi's heart during Kingdom Hearts. Kairi's own body never became a Nobody because her heart lacked darkness (since she was one of the Princesses of Heart), so her body and soul were never able to leave the Realm of Light and thus made it seem like Kairi was in a comatose state until she regained her heart. The absence of darkness also meant that a heartless wasn't created. This made Naminé a very strange Nobody, born from Kairi's heart and Sora's body and soul.
However, this means that Naminé was also born without Kairi's memories, only furthering her unique status as an unprecedented Nobody. Yet she and Kairi are incomplete without each other, similar to Sora and Roxas. Because of the fact that Naminé is formed from Sora's body, she has the power to manipulate his memories as well as the memories of those who are connected to him, prompting several others, even herself, to call her a "witch". Ansem the Wise stated in his ninth Secret Ansem Report that Naminé is a highly unusual Nobody, due to possessing neither the body nor the memories that a Nobody is usually made from.
Story[]
Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories[]
Naminé is being held captive inside the Castle Oblivion, which controls the powers to the ruler of the castle service, the number XI Organization XIII, Marluxia. When it becomes aware of the presence of Sora inside the castle, Marluxia decided to exploit this opportunity. Naminé reconfigures the Sora's memory so that believe that the girl who had given him the Greetings she was not Kairi; for security, even changing the shape of lucky charms, making it similar to a Fruit of Paopu. For a good half of the story, Sora is convinced of having to save a girl who really has never known. Are useless warnings of Vexen, which indeed is knocked out for trying to tell him the truth. {C After several misunderstandings between the members inside the castle, Naminé manages to escape the control of Marluxia and tell Sora what's going on before the owner of the Keyblade from falling into the trap of the number XI.
Despite Namine was disappointed, though, Sora no grudge; indeed, she decides to protect her still, keeping faith with a promise that in fact he had done to Kairi. After Sora defeated Marluxia, Naminé tells him restore his memories to their original state will take a long time (one year, counting the problems we had due to the clone # 1). To ensure a peaceful awakening to the boy, she convinces him to sleep in a refrigerant capsule, promising that when he woke up nothing will remember the events of the castle of oblivion. To avoid the risk of forgetting to thank her, the Talking Cricket writes on the last page of his Jiminy Journal, now empty, a single note: "Thank Naminé".
